Greg Sankey delivers definitive statement that has the internet up in arms
It just means more.
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey wants to see as many teams from his conference as possible make the College Football Playoff, even if it comes off as unrealistic.

During an appearance on the SEC Network ahead of the SEC Championship Game, Sankey made the case that with seven of the top 14 teams in the latest College Football Playoff rankings, including Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Texas, all of them deserve a spot in the playoff.
“I actually think we deserve seven [teams] in [the CFP],” Sankey said.
“This league is different. The expectations are different. The competition is different. And the rewards should respect each of those elements.”
It’s clear that Sankey is stumping for his conference, which is part of the job but ultimately, his words will fall on deaf ears.
Three-loss Texas is effectively out of contention, and Vanderbilt’s schedule doesn’t measure up to teams like Notre Dame, Miami, or BYU.
Of course Sankey’s comments left the internet up in arms over his comments.
“Come on may man. If that is the case, what are we doing even entering this bracket? Just have an SEC tourney of the top half of the SEC and say it’s a natty,” one fan posted on X.
“Is the SEC going to launch a begging campaign every off-season to get their teams in instead of…….wait for it…….winning?” another fan asked.
“SEC had 3 teams in the playoffs last year and two were one and done. Notre Dame beat the SEC conference champs by double digits and Tennessee got blown out by 25 points. You don’t deserve any more than 3 teams,” one more added.
The debate will largely come down to Notre Dame, Miami and BYU.

More to come…
