Graeme Souness: Liverpool fans who want Arne Slot sacked are ‘muppets’
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has taken aim at supporters calling for Arne Slot’s head amid the club’s alarming run of form.
A 3-3 draw against Leeds on Saturday, in which the Reds conceded in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time, meant Liverpool have now won just twice in their last 10 Premier League fixtures.

The result also left Liverpool ninth in the table with 23 points after 15 games, ten behind league leaders Arsenal.
Liverpool’s grim situation was further aggravated by superstar forward Mohamed Salah’s staggering outburst following the contest, in which he declared he has ‘no relationship’ with Slot.
Despite Salah’s standing as one of the club’s greatest players in the modern era, talkSPORT understands Liverpool’s board are fully behind Slot amid the Egyptian’s remarks.
Amid Salah’s frustrations having been benched for a third-straight league fixture and Liverpool’s alarming form, some supporters have called for Slot to be axed.
However, Souness was having no such chatter given Slot led the Reds to a league title in his first season at the helm.
Instead, Souness questioned the application of the players given the levels they displayed last season en route to winning the league.
Graeme Souness defends Arne Slot amid Liverpool’s poor form
“He’ll (Slot) be scratching his head, why?” Souness said on talkSPORT Breakfast.
“Why are we not winning games like we were last year? We talk about the new players coming in. Just park the new players for a minute. Don’t involve them in the argument.
“Where are the players that won in the league last year? Where are they? Where are they?
“Don’t blame the manager for everything. I heard a couple of muppets on talking about the manager. They don’t know what they’re on about.

“The responsibility of the players, they were good enough last year, so it’s in them. You don’t become a bad player overnight. It’s in them.
“But for some reason, they’re not playing for me, they’re not playing with the same intensity.”
Why Liverpool fans must get behind Slot
Souness added: “The supporters should back the manager. The manager is doing nothing different.
“The manager’s job is to get the best out of the group of players. Back him. He will be doing the exact same things this season as he was last season.
“Last season, they won the league by doing whatever.
“The way they trained, the time they trained, the type of training they did, the travel they do, the hotels they stay in, what they eat before a game.”
