Gervonta Davis in advanced talks for rematch against boxer ‘most similar to Mike Tyson’
Gervonta Davis is set to return to the boxing ring this summer after a turbulent period in his career.
Davis hasn’t fought since falling to a controversial draw with Lamont Roach last March.

He was then set to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in November, but the bout collapsed after he was subject to a civil lawsuit facing allegations of domestic violence.
The American then faced a warrant for his arrest, and it looked as if his boxing career was stalling more than ever down to problems outside of the ring.
But now it appears he will indeed make a comeback this year according to The Ring’s Mike Coppinger.
It has been reported that he is in advanced talks to face former all-action rival Isaac Cruz, whom he first fought in December 2021.
The fight was originally for Davis’ WBA lightweight title, which saw ‘Tank’ get the better of the ferocious fighter on the scorecards.
Now the second clash will instead be at the 140lbs weight limit, with the pair to pile on pounds for their renewed battle.
An exact date and venue is yet to be set but it is set to fall in the summer of this year.
Cruz has a fan-friendly style, and has been likened to heavyweight legend and KO artist Mike Tyson by the man himself.
It promises an ample opportunity to try and get revenge, with Davis having have been out of action for over a year.
Davis vs Cruz – why is it happening?
Davis got the better of Cruz unanimously on all three scorecards albeit ‘Pitbull’ put in a resolute display.

The only benefit for the Baltimore bruiser this time out would be to get back to his destructive ways and end the fight inside the distance.
Several bigger fights and bigger names could lay in wait including a showdown with long-term foe Shakur Stevenson.
But for now a test with Cruz represents a good level step back into the ring to boost his activity.
Although another potential rival in Devin Haney isn’t sure why the bout is taking place.
He remarked: “Gervonta Davis, I think he’s a really good fighter. He’s an underachiever.
“I think he has so much talent. I believe his outside of the ring issues stop him from reaching his full potential, and him not wanting to test himself against the best fighters in the world.
“A guy like ‘Pitbull’ Cruz is a fight that no one asked for.”
