England have reached the last 16 of the World Cup, but did very little to impress Gabby Agbonlahor against DR Congo.

The Three Lions avoided a monumental upset on Wednesday night as they came from behind to beat the African nation 2-1.

Harry Kane was the England saviour as he scored his fourth and fifth goals at the World Cup to confirm their progression.

A huge clash against Mexico awaits them on Monday at 1am UK time, live on talkSPORT, as they eye a third consecutive quarter-final spot.

However, while most England fans will be delighted to have seen the squad go further at the World Cup, Agbonlahor cut a sombre figure.

After Andy Goldstein opened the Breakfast show, the former England striker said: “Thank you for saying ‘morning’, not ‘good morning’, because it is not a good morning.

“That was a garbage performance, it’s not a good morning,” he added. “I was in the Redwood working (on the watchalong) last night.

“Afterwards, fans are celebrating, they’re coming over to me and I’m just like, ‘Guys, I can’t celebrate that.'”

Later on, Laura Kirk-Francis joined the show to go through the back pages and mentioned that Agbonlahor followed her on Instagram.

She then joked that she would block him, having giving him the title of ‘chief moaner’ amid his frustration with England’s performance.

Many of the newspapers have praised Kane and his heroics in Atlanta, but Agbonlahor thought he was far from perfect.

“I get it, it was a fantastic goal (the winner)… but, his performance for the rest of the game was atrocious,” he claimed.

Kirk-Francis responded to his doom and gloom by joking she’d block him on Instagram

“Giving the ball away, playing centre midfield again like he did at the Euros… he offered zero for the rest of the game.

“Yes, moments, fantastic, scored a great goal, against DR Congo by the way, he should be doing a lot more.”

Kirk-Francis could not believe what she was hearing, and was quick to pick up her phone and declare: “I’m going to block you right now.”

“Your takeaway from last night, Gabby, is that Harry Kane (did not do) enough in the rest of the game?” she asked.

Agbonlahor explained: “I’m just being honest. If we’re going to win a World Cup, Harry Kane has got to do more for the rest of the game.”

“Four weeks, that’s the worst take I’ve heard, I think,” Kirk-Francis said in response.

Here is how Agbonlahor rated England against DR Congo

Chief football anchor Adrian Durham delivered his player ratings after the full-time whistle, with four players getting a 2/10 and one a 1/10.

Agbonlahor gave his own scores and handed Kane a 6/10, the second-highest rating for the team.

“Fantastic second goal, but his overall performance was, for me, not good enough.”

Goldstein then asked: ‘When we play Mexico, if you had the option to take exactly the same Harry Kane performance with two goals, or not and start from the beginning, what are you taking?”

“Of course you’re taking the goals,” Agbonlahor said. “But when you play better teams, you’re maybe not going to score those chances.

“No offence to DR Congo… is he going to do that against a top, top defence? He’s not.
