Furious Jamie O’Hara calls for Thomas Frank to be sacked immediately and tips Xabi Alonso or Tottenham hero for interim job

Thomas Frank must be sacked immediately and Tottenham should try to get Xabi Alonso or Robbie Keane to replace him.

That’s the view of furious ex-Spurs star Jamie O’Hara, who called for change after their 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday.

Frank’s side lost at home to the Hammers, who sit 18th and in the Premier League relegation zone, to continue their poor form.

It was their third straight loss in all competitions and made it four games without a win in the top-flight.

Tottenham are 14th in the table and just five points clear of 17th, only coming out on top once in their last eight outings.

In total, Frank has won 11 of his 32 games in charge since replacing Ange Postecoglou in the dugout, losing 13 and drawing eight.

The Dane’s future is now in major doubt, with the Spurs board meeting to discuss whether his position is becoming untenable – and O’Hara believes that his time at the club should be over after just seven months.

“I’m done, I’m finished as a Tottenham fan,” he ranted live on talkSPORT. “I’m done. I’m done with Frank, I’m done with this team.

“This is the worst Tottenham team I’ve ever seen in the Premier League. He can’t get a tune out of them. It’s time for him to go.

“You can’t lose to this West Ham team. They are one of the worst we’ve seen in the Premier League… and we lose to them 2-1.

“He’s got to go. I don’t care who comes in. I can’t watch another performance like this.

“This Tottenham squad is nowhere near good enough, it’s four years of bad recruitment under Daniel Levy and we’re paying the price. We’ve spent so much money and the team is shocking.

“Where’s the philosophy? It’s shocking. Frank has been there six months, but what’s the plan? Where’s the philosophy? I have no idea.

“The players don’t believe in him. Look at Man United today, straight away you can tell the players believe in Michael Carrick. They played for him and they were brilliant today against Man City. Played them off the park and showed so much desire.

“These Tottenham players are not playing for Thomas Frank. He’s come from Brentford and it’s too big a job for him. He’s not good enough.

“We can’t keep playing like this at home. We can’t keep losing like this at home. We can’t be beaten by this West Ham team at home.”

Who could replace Frank at Spurs?

O’Hara then went on to discuss who he would want to see take over from Frank, should he be sacked as Tottenham manager.

“You go interim until the end of the season,” he said. “I don’t know who…I’d like someone with an affiliation to Spurs, just until the end of the season.

“I’d have Robbie Keane in until the end of the season, but he won’t leave unless he’s getting a job full time.”

Keane has been the manager of Hungarian side Ferencvaros since last January, winning the league title in his first year and qualifying for the Europa League.

The former striker, who played over 300 games for Tottenham and scored 122 goals, has been linked to the club before, while he refused to close the door on a potential move to Celtic.

Looking at other options to replace Frank, O’Hara later added: “In dreamland, I’d say Xabi Alonso.

“But I don’t think we’d get him…I’m not saying we’d get him, but I’m just not sure what the answer is.”

Alonso is available after leaving Real Madrid in a shock departure, but he’s not expected to take a new job until the summer.

What has Frank said about his future?

Frank was asked post-match about his future and hearing chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ from Spurs fans.

He replied: “Of course, I’ve probably had better times, it’s probably not the best time, of course.

“But I understand, I’m the man in charge. So the blame will go to me. That’s fair, no problem in that sense.

“As long as they are backing the players, doing everything they can, to support them and drive them forward, that’s what we do, and we will keep going forward.

On why he thinks he deserves time to turn things around, Frank continued: “If you’re not winning enough, we know you will not get enough support from the fans.

“But when we’re winning, it will change, when we start winning again. Which we will do. I’m not in doubt of that.”

“I think the team is working very hard,” he added. “And I still think, and I know it sounds a little bit crazy, that we are closer to something very good than further away.

“I think you all saw the game today, we could easily have won this one 2-1. I think it’s no excuses.

“But also the reason we’re a little bit down to the bare bones with players. And we also need some of the offensive players to score a goal or two.

“All that is difficult for me to do like that and click with a finger.

“But I can promise that I’m sitting here, giving everything, every single day. I feel the trust from everyone and there’s only one way, we need to keep going.”
