Fraser Forster lands Premier League return six months after leaving Tottenham

Bournemouth have signed free agent Fraser Forster on a six-month deal, talkSPORT understands.

Forster, 37, has been without a club since leaving Tottenham in the summer and will be on the Bournemouth bench against Arsenal tomorrow.

The Cherries entered the market for a new goalkeeper amid concerns over their recent form.

First-choice shot-stopper Djordje Petrovic, signed from Chelsea for £25million, has kept just one clean sheet in the club’s ten-match winless run.

Will Dennis has been the Serbian’s back-up to this point, but is yet to make a Premier League appearance, and Bournemouth were keen to bring in competition between the sticks.

Forster arrives as a more experienced option, having played 155 games in the Premier League across spells at Southampton and Spurs, keeping 47 clean sheets.

The England international is best known for his time at Celtic, where he made 168 appearances and set a Scottish Premiership record of 1,256 minutes without conceding a goal.

Bournemouth are also on the hunt for a new winger after agreeing to sell star man Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City.

Semenyo’s £60million release clause became active on January 1 and City wasted no time triggering it, having already struck personal terms with the Ghanaian.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham were also keen on the Premier League’s third-highest goalscorer this season, but a move to City looks set to be completed imminently.

Nevertheless, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola insists Semenyo will play for his side on Saturday as they host City’s title rivals – Arsenal.

“Yes, Antoine is going to play,” he said on Friday.

“I think the idea at least is that he’s going to be available for these two games that we have in a very short turnaround. I hope he can be here more time but I don’t know what is going to happen.

“There is nothing signed. There are conversations and I understand a lot of the noise around but there is nothing signed.

“Antoine is our player and I hope – we want to keep him for a lot of time – but we want to keep him yes.”

In search of a replacement, Bournemouth look to have missed out on Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson.

The Welshman is on the verge of signing for Crystal Palace in a £35million deal.
