Frank Lampard reveals Coventry transfer strategy that will annoy wife Christine ahead of Premier League return
Frank Lampard admits there is work to be done this summer for Coventry City to bridge the gap to the Premier League.
The 47-year-old will be busy working on deals in the off-season to get them ready for the new campaign – and joked he will owe a few apologies to wife Christine.

The Sky Blues will return to the top-flight after 25 years away following their Championship title victory this season.
A busy summer is now expected at the CBS Arena ahead of their long-awaited return.
Lampard, who was appointed in November 2024, guided Coventry into the play-offs last season.
However, they were ultimately beaten by Sunderland in the semi-finals.
His side have gone a step further this season by winning the title with two matches remaining.
Ahead of Saturday’s final day trip to Watford, Lampard spoke to Jeff Stelling and Gabby Agbonlahor on talkSPORT Breakfast.
Asked about the club’s transfer plans and whether he will be able to relax this summer, Lampard admitted he may annoy his wife at times.
The former England midfielder joked: “I’m going to multitask, so there will be moments where maybe I have a beer in my hand and my phone in the other one.
“Sometimes I have to apologise to Christine for that.”
Coventry’s transfer plans
There remains a job at hand, though, with Lampard well aware of the challenges facing Coventry in the Premier League.

The 47-year-old has previously taken charge of both Chelsea and Everton in the division.
Revealing what challenges his current club now face, he added: “In terms of the summer, there’s a lot of work to be done.
“There’s no doubt when you come up as a non-parachute team with players who aren’t as experienced.
“I know the gap well because I’ve played in it (the Premier League) a lot.
“I’ve managed a team fighting for the Champions League with Chelsea, I’ve managed in a relegation battle at Everton.
“I understand there’s lots of conversations (to be had). The owner has been very keen on us all enjoying and celebrating in these last couple of weeks, and I agree with that, we can live in the moment.

“But the next job for the football club is ‘ok, what do we need to do?’ because we’ve risen quite quickly in these last 18 months.
“A lot of amazing groundwork by Mark Robins but the differences that are coming upon the football club now and the step is big so it has to be done well, so that will be the job.”
Coventry have already completed their first permanent signing of the summer.
A clause in Frank Onyeka’s loan deal from Brentford was triggered by the Sky Blues winning promotion.
Owner Doug King has also refused to rule out a move to bring goalkeeper Carl Rushworth back to the club next season.
