Footage shows Ruben Amorim make sharp exit from press conference after extraordinary claim
Ruben Amorim stormed out of an explosive press conference after suggesting he plans to leave Manchester United when his contract expires.
The Red Devils head coach shocked fans after his side’s 1-1 draw with Leeds, as he cast major doubt over his future at the club in dramatic scenes.

Amorim was appointed as head coach at Old Trafford in November 2024, and signed a contract that runs until June 2027.
He has the option to extend his deal by a further year, however, the Portuguese suggested he is unlikely to stay beyond his initial terms.
United recorded back-to-back Premier League draws at Elland Road, and all was not well with Amorim in his post-match media duties.
The 40-year-old appeared to take aim at the club’s hierarchy, as he challenged them to let him by the manager, before abruptly walking out.
‘Everyone is going to move on’
talkSPORT understands there is growing tension between Amorim and Man United’s Director of Football Jason Wilcox.
Sources close to Old Trafford say Wilcox would like the 40-year-old to be more tactically flexible, while Amorim has been told that January bringing in reinforcements in this transfer window is unlikely.
These tensions came to a head following the Leeds draw, when was asked whether he still felt the confidence of the United board.
To this, Amorim replied: “I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be coach of Manchester United.
“I know my name is not [Antonio] Conte, [Thomas] Tuchel, or [Jose] Mourinho but I’m the manager of Manchester United.
“It’s going to be like this for 18 months or until the board decide to change. So that was my point.

“I want to finish with that. I’m not going to quit. I will do my job not until the other guy is coming here to replace me.
Amorim was then pressed if he felt ‘certain assurances’ he had been given, such as his ability to manage the team, were still being delivered on.
The United boss responded: “I just want to say that I’m going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach. And I was really clear on that.
“And that is going to finish in 18 months, and then everyone is going to to move on. That was the deal. That is my job, not to be a coach.
“If people cannot handle the Gary Nevilles and the critics, we need to change the club. No, guys, I just want to say that.
“I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach, and every department, the scouting department, the sporting director needs to do their job.

“I will do mine for 18 months, and then we move on.”
After his bombshell statement, Amorim then immediately walked out of his press conference in abrupt scenes.
This brings the future of the United boss into question, who is understood to be disappointed with what he feels are broken promises.
Amorim recently admitted that the club are unlikely to make any signings in January, despite being without a number of key players currently – including Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui due to the Africa Cup on Nations.
Captain Bruno Fernandes and centre-backs Harry Maguire and Mattihjs de Ligt have also been missing in recently through injury.
Amorim said: “The transfer window is not going to change.”

“We have no conversation to have any change in the squad, there is a process, there is an idea.
“We are near the Champions League places, but we also near eight teams behind us, so let’s focus on the next game.”
