The Philadelphia Flyers are moving on in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Flyers defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime in Game 6 to move on in the playoffs.

It was a 1-0 victory for the Flyers, as Dan Vladar stopped all 42 shots he faced in the victory. After the game, one former Philadelphia Phillies legend made sure to praise the Flyers’ netminder.

“[Dan Vladar] you are a BAAADDDDD man!!” former Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Rollins played for the Phillies from 2000 through 2014, becoming a three-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove Winner, the 2007 NL MVP, and a World Series champion in 2008. He is also a member of the Phillies Wall of Fame.

To get praise from Philadelphia sports royalty is a big deal for the Flyers’ goaltender, but he deserved the praise for his play. Not only did he post two shutouts in the series, but he also set the Flyers record for most saves in a series-clinching victory. Vladar credited his performance to belief, according to Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.

“It was just the belief,” said Vladar after the game. “I was just trying to give the guys in front of me a chance and then I had the belief again that they are going to capitalize. So, obviously, glad that they did, and even better that it was ‘Yorkie’ who scored.”

Vladar was great in the entire series. He finished the series with a 1.61 goals against average and a .937 save percentage. He also had a stellar regular season, going 29-14-7 with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. This gave Vladar confidence that he brought into the playoffs.

“There was never a doubt,” he said. “I think I can speak for the whole locker room. There was never a doubt. If somebody had a doubt, it’s their problem. That’s not us. We all believed that we can do it, and, for me, nothing was changing. As I said before the series, I cannot try to stop the puck harder. I can still continue to do the same things, still being positive because if you come in and be a good person, I feel like good things happen to good people. And we are good people in here, so we deserve this.”

Now, the Flyers and Vladar will look to carry that confidence into the next series. They will face the Carolina Hurricanes, who swept the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the playoffs.
