Floyd Mayweather protege has ‘very good chance’ of fighting on Manny Pacquiao undercard

The Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao II undercard has yet to be confirmed, although it could feature one of the sport’s most exciting talents.

Teenage sensation Curmel Moton has turned plenty of heads during a bright start to life in the paid ranks.

The 19-year-old lightweight, who is represented by Mayweather, improved to 9-0 last month by retiring Wilfredo Flores on his stool on a Pacquiao Promotions bill in New York.

And now, he has let slip that he expects to feature on the undercard of his mentor’s comeback fight against ‘PacMan’ on September 19.

“I can’t really confirm [that I am on the card], not at the moment,” he told Pro Boxing Fans.

“But I feel like there is a very good chance, a high percentage chance that I definitely will be on the card.

“Co-main, hopefully, we will see, but I definitely should be on that card, for sure.”

The Netflix showcase fight is being promoted by Mayweather Promotions and Pacquiao Promotions, and so is expected to feature several athletes from both rosters.

As Moton is the standout name on Mayweather’s books, the precocious talent seems like a logical fit for the undercard.

Moton has been campaigning for a bout with Britain’s Giorgio Visioli, who claims to have got the better of the American in a much-talked-about sparring session.

Visioli returns to action on March 21 in a defence of his English lightweight title against Levi Giles at London’s Copper Box Arena.

It remains unclear whether a bout with Visioli is a possibility for the Mayweather-Pacquiao II undercard.

However, Moton is hoping to settle his score with his fierce rival this year.

“He’s real tough in the media, but at the end of the day, we are going to let our hands do the talking,” added Moton.

“I’ve been pushing for that fight, so hopefully this year we can make it happen.

“Definitely [I would entertain it for Mayweather-Pacquiao].

“Even before then, we can make it happen.

“Anytime they want to do it, I am ready.”
