Fans beg WWE for Royal Rumble return after Attitude Era hero recreates iconic after 25 years
Wrestling fans of a certain age still thrive on Attitude Era nostalgia.
While Stone Cold, The Rock and The Undertaker stood out as lynchpins of the era, it was often a WWE roster stacked with stars.

One of many examples is that of the man many will remember as Scotty 2 Hotty and, before that, Scott Taylor.
The real-life Scott Garland was one of a trio that danced into the hearts of WWE fans worldwide as Too Cool – Rikishi and Brian ‘Grandmaster Sexay’ Christopher alongside him.
Rikishi has long since retired and Christopher sadly died in police custody in 2018. Scotty, however, has continued to fly the Too Cool flag high.
Earlier this month, at 52, Scotty 2 Hotty quietly recreated one of the most recognisable moments of his career, 26 years on.
Paying homage to iconic Royal Rumble moment
The 2000 Royal Rumble had many a highlight: Triple H’s landmark WWE title win over Cactus Jack and The Rock standing tall at the end of the Rumble match – though the Big Show would famously go on to contest the result.
Near the multi-man bout’s outset, though, fans had a treat. All three members of Too Cool took a moment out of the match to hit their iconic dance moves – including the Worm – much to the delight of those packed into Madison Square Garden.
Scotty paid tribute to that legendary scene more than two decades later by running it all back.
Ahead of a Limitless Wrestling show in Lewiston, Maine, Scotty shared a backstage video explaining the thinking behind the look.
He wrote: “We took it back to 2000 last night in the Limitless Wrestling Rumble in Lewiston, Maine.
“I broke out the spiked hair for the first time in 25 years, the original jacket from the 2000 Royal Rumble, and the hat that I wore the first time that we did the Too Cool/Rikishi dance.”

The jacket was the original, refurbished to match its 2000 condition, the hair styled to the same exaggerated points, the hat pulled from the same era. Every detail was in place for the perfect stroll down memory lane.
Back at the Rumble in 2000, the fun was ended when Rikishi momentarily went rogue and eliminated his two groupmates, before later being eliminated after six men ganged up to hurl him over the top rope.
Come 2026, the magic lasted a little longer. Scotty didn’t win his slightly more low-key Rumble, but he strutted, danced, posed, and even hit his trademark Worm alongside his son, also now a wrestler, to thrill those watching.
Across his WWE run, the veteran held tag team gold, captured the Light Heavyweight Championship, and remained a fixture during one of the company’s most volatile creative periods.
When his in-ring career slowed, he transitioned into coaching and producing, helping shape talent behind the scenes before his release in 2021.
He continues to wrestle occasionally, keeping the cobwebs at bay with 14 matches in 2025 alone.

Fans make clear Royal Rumble demand
The fans in Lewiston loved him, just as the Attitude Era crowds thrived on his energy way back when.
He remains a favourite – fans pored over the video, leaving comments and tributes; some even urging WWE to bring him back into the fold with the 2026 instalment of the Rumble barely a week away.
“We need you as a surprise entrance in the royal rumble,” pleaded one fan in reply. “I would pop so hard if I heard that entrance.”
A second concurred, saying: “I need that,” while a third commented: “If Scotty looks like this in 2026, it definitely deserves a Royal Rumble appearance.”
The Rumble is always an event packed with surprises, cameos and nostalgic throwbacks.
If WWE are so inclined, one third of Too Cool is in match-ready shape and, it seems, has dusted off a dancing jacket made for the occasion.
