Everton vs Sunderland predictions
Everton had a heated game against Wolves on Wednesday night after seeing both Michael Keane and Jack Grealish receiving red cards after the 80th minute.
The Toffees will be looking for immediate redemption against Sunderland on Saturday afternoon’s all Premier League FA Cup third round tie.
It’s relatively rare two Premier League sides come face to face in the third round given how many teams are entered so this has more at stake than usual for the competition as a whole.
Everton vs Sunderland betting tips
Everton face starting XI changes
Sunderland suffered a 3-0 loss to Brentford on Wednesday night so neither team are coming into this in the best form.
With Keane and Grealish out Everton will have to change the squad up anyway but likely would have given a couple of fringe players a start anyway going into this very busy January.
Sunderland to struggle away?
Sunderland have been eliminated in each of their last seven FA Cup ties against teams from the same division as them since beating Southampton 1-0 in the fifth round in 2013-14.
Whereas, Everton have reached the FA Cup fourth round in each of the last two seasons, last progressing from the third round in more consecutive seasons between 2008-09 and 2013-14 (when they progressed six in a row).
Sunderland also don’t get on well away at Everton, losing 13 of their last 19 such games and drawing just four.
This will be just the second tie in the FA Cup between these two sides, the first was a 2011/12 quarter-final where the Toffees won 2-0 in a replay and could knock Sunderland out for the ninth time with a win here.
A couple of players that could get more of a chance from the starting XI is Tyler Dibling who’s only appeared briefly in the Premier League having started four games in total and has been subbed on a few times too.
Dwight McNeil hasn’t appeared much either until recently putting in three full 90 minutes in the last four games having previously only started once.
Beto hasn’t started in any of the last three and has only started once in the last 12 games so could be the biggest goal threat if he starts now given a chance in the FA Cup.
