England will kickstart their final preparations for this summer’s World Cup against Uruguay at Wembley on Friday night.

The Three Lions welcome their South American opposition before taking on Japan in their last games before the tournament.

Thomas Tuchel has named a bumper 35-man squad for the fixtures and included some unexpected players that could now find their way into the German’s plans for the summer.

But performing well against Uruguay will be paramount for Tuchel, who has only lost one game as manager so far.

In fact, his side have been in such good form that they have scored 19 goals and not conceded a single one in their last six games.

So keeping that momentum will be key against a Uruguay team that will also be hoping for a positive result ahead of the World Cup.

Kick-off at Wembley Stadium is scheduled for 7:45pm.

Despite selecting 35 players for his squad, Tuchel has explained that not all of them will feature against Uruguay.

He revealed that just 19 outfield players and the goalkeepers will join up with the team ahead of the opening game.

And they will include some of the newer faces, such as James Garner, who is eyeing his first cap, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and more.

Harvey Barnes and Ben White received late call-ups, with Kobbie Mainoo, Harry Maguire and Lewis Hall in too.

As for Uruguay, former Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez will likely be leading the line at Wembley.

Wolves defender Santiago Bueno could also feature, along with Man United’s Manuel Ugarte and Real Madrid‘s Federico Valverde.

Tuchel is hoping for a successful final camp before the World Cup, saying: “I’m convinced we will have two hungry teams to play Uruguay and Japan.

“I am convinced we need two hungry teams because the opponents are very different from each other, but very, very good football teams.

“We need top quality, we need hunger and excitement to create excitement. That’s our goal.

“I’m happy for the first group to come in – many young players, many new faces, players I haven’t worked before with, players who haven’t had maybe so many minutes recently with us.

“Then I’m happy when also the guys come back who contributed a lot through September, October, November to keep the standards where they were and straight away, go and push the level further.

“Hopefully two good matches.”
