EFL club make shock bid to sign 20-goal Champions League striker who humiliated Erling Haaland and Man City

Norwich City have reportedly launched a bid to sign Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Høgh fresh from Champions League heroics against Manchester City.

The 25-year-old tore it up in the Norwegian league this season with 17 goals in 28 Eliteserien games, plus three in Europe where he has made a name for himself by leading his side to a huge upset.

Høgh scored twice in a minute against Man City to help Bodo/Glimt secure a famous win over the 2023 European champions.

The 3-1 win is Bodo/Glimt’s first ever Champions League victory.

And it appears their hero could be on his way to English football, with the the Telegraph reporting that Championship club Norwich have made a bid for the striker.

The Dane is also believed to be attracting interest from a number of Championship rivals too.

Høgh has scored 43 times in 82 matches for Bodo/Glimt since joining from the Danish Superliga.

Norwich striker replacement

Canaries boss Philippe Clement is looking to bolster his attack amid transfer speculation surrounding Josh Sargent.

USA international Sargent is currently at a stand-off with Norwich as he attempts to force a transfer away from the club.

He refused to play in the FA Cup against Walsall and continues to be absent from the first team.

Clement said: “Josh sent me a message [on Saturday] evening saying he would not be available because of transfer things in his head.

“This is obviously not something we want, and it will have consequences.

“It is something we need to speak about inside the club, but the club has made it really clear to Josh and his agent that he will not be leaving during this transfer window.”

His contract doesn’t expire until 2028, but now that he’s taken this stance, the club will have to make a decision over his future.

MLS club Toronto are believed to have lodged a bid worth in the region of £13million to sign Sargent.

Norwich are currently fighting for survival in the Championship.

They are 22nd after 27 games and have won just seven games all season.

Next up for the Canaries is a game against West Brom on Tuesday.
