However, low temperatures and snow in the area this week have left the pitch unplayable.

Oldham confirmed on Thursday that the match had been postponed due to a frozen playing surface following a pitch inspection.

Oldham statement

In a statement, the club said: “Our Sky Bet League Two fixture against Notts County (Saturday 10 January) has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

“An inspection took place on Thursday afternoon with the pitch frozen following persistent freezing temperatures since our last home game on New Year’s Day and further adverse weather also forecast.

“Tickets purchased for this fixture will be valid for the rearranged date.

“Supporters who require a refund will be able claim theirs once the date for the rearranged fixture is announced.”

The Latics last played at home on New Year’s Day, drawing 1-1 with ten-man Chesterfield.

Their trip to Bromley last weekend was also postponed due to a frozen pitch, though.

It was one of ten League Two fixtures called off on Sunday, with just two matches going ahead as scheduled.

Oldham are due to be next in action at Boundary Park against Cheltenham on January 17.

Meanwhile, County travel to face Crawley on the same day in their next League Two outing.

This weekend’s meeting had been due to follow the reverse fixture back in October.

On that occasion, Notts County ran out 3-1 winners at Meadow Lane.

The two sides are currently separated by seven points in the fourth tier.

Notts County sit in eighth place and only a point outside the play-off berths.

As for newly-promoted Oldham, they are comfortably clear of the relegation zone in 15th.

It followed a three-year absence from the EFL after their relegation in 2022.
