Donte DiVincenzo back with Timberwolves days after Achilles surgery

The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently gearing up for Game 6 of their first round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday evening. The Timberwolves dropped Game 5 on the road earlier this week, but still lead the series 3-2, with a chance to close things out in front of their home fans.

The Timberwolves have been hit with a brutal case of the injury bug in this series, which began when Donte DiVincenzo suffered a devastating Achilles tear just seconds into what became a Game 4 win for the Timberwolves over the weekend.

However, despite the tough setback, DiVincenzo is still finding a way to support his teammates in the very early stages of his recovery process.

The timing of the injury not only rules DiVincenzo out for the remainder of this season, which the Timberwolves hope will not be coming to an end anytime soon, but also likely most if not all of next year, although Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury recovery may have set a new precedent for injury timelines around the league moving forward.

Meanwhile, later in the first half of Game 4, star Anthony Edwards hyperextended his knee in gruesome fashion, sending him out for the remainder of the series as well, which gave the Nuggets a prime opportunity to pull off a rare 3-1 comeback with two of Minnesota’s best players sidelined.

The Timberwolves will hope to avoid that fate on Thursday night at home, but they’ll need to have a more balanced scoring performance than what they produced in Game 5 on the road, in which they were trailing for essentially the entire evening.

In any case, the Nuggets and Timberwolves are slated to tip off at 9:30 pm ET on Thursday from Minnesota.
