Dave Roberts says what everybody’s thinking after Kyle Tucker gets his moment

The Los Angeles Dodgers got an exciting win on Monday over the Miami Marlins. Kyle Tucker walked it off for the Dodgers by hitting a two-run single in the ninth inning. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts loved seeing Tucker play the hero.

“It was great. He needed it. He needed a win,” Roberts said, per MLB.com. “And he’s been grinding and trying to find some success and some good fortune. Big spot right there, walk-off at home. So that was great. To see everybody go out and greet him and celebrate him was fun to watch this game.”

Tucker’s hit helped lift Los Angeles to a 5-4 victory. L.A. has now won three games in a row.

Tucker signed a four-year deal with Los Angeles before the 2026 season, after playing previously for the Chicago Cubs. This season, Tucker had been having some setbacks at the plate.

“It’s tough sometimes, just because you don’t see the results right away or anything,” Tucker said. “But you just kinda stick to it and try to get as much quality contact as you can and wait for them to drop.”

The Dodgers star was hunting though during his plate appearance in the ninth on Monday.

“First pitch … I fouled off. I thought I saw a decent amount, just didn’t put the best swing on it,” Tucker said. “Kind of the same thing next pitch. I was able to kind of sit through it more, just knock up the middle with it.”

The Dodgers are looking for their third consecutive World Series championship this season. Los Angeles has been out to a strong start, leading the National League West for most of the young campaign.

Following the win Monday, the Dodgers are now 20-9 on the season.
