Dave Portnoy slams ‘idiotic’ WNBA as Caitlin Clark snubbed despite making more history with Fever
Caitlin Clark is back on the court after her injury-riddled 2025 campaign.
A severe right groin strain and subsequent left ankle bone bruise kept her on the sidelines for all but 13 games for the Indiana Fever last season.

It’s hard to argue that there’s a bigger star in the game than Clark, whose Fever squad have all 44 of their regular season games nationally televised this season.
Despite her major presence, the WNBA recently elected not to feature Clark in a graphic promoting the Indiana’s game against the Seattle Storm on Sunday, electing instead to go with Fever rookie Raven Johnson.
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who is one of Clark’s most vocal supporters, took exception to the league’s decision not to include her.
When the graphic was initially released, Portnoy took his frustration out on the WNBA for deciding to snub Clark.
“If this is real and I think it is, this is the most idiotic promo I’ve ever seen in sports,” Portnoy posted on X.
“I like Raven Johnson. But to not put Caitlin Clark on every graphic for every Fever game is literally the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.
“Like would you ever promote a Lakers game without LeBron? Spurs without Wemby? OKC without SGA? It’s so intentional I can’t wrap my brain around it. How can this league be so god damn stupid?”
Portnoy continue his rant in a video, calling for the heads of the team behind the graphic.
“When the face of your league is on a team like Caitlin is with the Fever, you, it’s just a no-brainer. You don’t need… you just pencil in, she’s the graphic,” he said in a video posted to X.
“To go with Raven Johnson, a rookie who averages 1 point a game and does nothing, that is so intentional by whoever did that on the WNBA, who’s running their account. You have to fire them.

“You are… you are openly saying we hate Caitlin Clark, we hate her fans, we don’t want you.”
Clark makes more history with Fever in unique way
Clark is filling the stat sheet so much that the league’s official scorers are having a hard time keeping up with her dominance.
She had 21 points and 10 assists in Sunday’s 89-78 win over the Seattle Storm, her 12th game with at least 20 points and 10 assists, extending her record for most in WNBA history.
Although she had technically achieved that feat before stepping onto the court on Sunday.
She put up 32 points and 10 assists in the Fever’s overtime loss to the Washington Mystics on Friday, but two of the assists weren’t reflected in the final box score.

The league updated her final stat line from Friday a few hours before Sunday’s game tipped off.
Clark also became the first player in WNBA history with at least 20 points and 10 assists in fewer than 25 minutes played.
It was also her fourth consecutive game with at least 20 points and five assists, which tied for the longest streak to start a season in WNBA history.
