Darnell Washington’s broken arm puts Steelers in bad spot vs. Ravens
The Pittsburgh Steelers had a chance to clinch the AFC North this week, but they fell to the Cleveland Browns, 13-6. That means that the stage will be set next week as they face the Baltimore Ravens, and whoever wins will be heading to the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Steelers will most likely be without one of their pass catchers, as head coach Mike Tomlin announced that Darnell Washington broke his hand.
That would leave them down two receivers as they try to win the division,
“D.K. Metcalf out another week, and now Washington — a big part of what Pittsburgh’s offense does — out for foreseeable future,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Though he broke his arm, Tomlin seemed to leave the door open on Washington possibly playing next week.
“Mike Tomlin said he didn’t know if Washington will be out with the broken arm. Hard, though, to imagine him playing,” ESPN’s Brooke Pryor wrote.
Aaron Rodgers will have to work with what he has, and against the Browns, he spread the ball around to players such as Pat Freiermuth, Scotty Miller, Jonnu Smith, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. They will also have to try and rely on the running game, and Jaylen Warren could see a lot of touches.
If the offense can do their job, the defense should be able to step up and make an impact.
More on this story to come.
