Crystal Palace vs Manchester United predictions and betting tips – Clash between top-six rivals?

Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat by Everton last time out shows there is still work to be done for Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff. If United are to challenge for the top four, they must become more reliable week to week.

Crystal Palace have emerged as potential outsiders for Champions League qualification, so this promises to be a fascinating game in south London.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United predictions

Just when it looked like Manchester United had turned a corner, they were brought back down to earth by Everton on Monday night.

Before the November international break, United boosted their top-four chances with a five-game unbeaten run. The last of those matches, a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, saw Ruben Amorim’s side climb into seventh spot in the standings.

However, some of the optimism around Old Trafford evaporated after a 1-0 defeat by Everton last time out.

United would have been disappointed to lose at home to mid-table opposition even with numerical parity. But Everton played 77 minutes of the match with 10 men after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for striking his team-mate Michael Keane. That made the result even harder to take.

Everton deserved it. David Moyes’s men delivered a magnificent backs-to-the-wall performance to keep United at bay. It was one of the best 10-man showings in Premier League history.

Yet the visitors to Old Trafford were aided by a feeble United display. Jordan Pickford made a couple of handy saves, but Amorim’s side did nowhere near enough with a one-man advantage for more than 85 percent of the encounter. The manager’s refusal to alter his system even in those circumstances was baffling.

United have improved in many respects this term, but the jury remains out on Amorim. Another defeat this weekend would lead to fresh questions being asked of the Portuguese.

Liverpool are in freefall, Tottenham Hotspur are struggling, and Newcastle United cannot seem to get results on the road. United, with no European football to distract them, have a chance of Champions League qualification this season. But like the three teams mentioned above, they too are flawed.

Amorim, as ever, pulled no punches after the defeat by Everton, which left his team 10th in the table.

“I said in many occasions that I understand that we have a lot to do,” Amorim said. “But I am really frustrated with the way we played the game, especially at home and understanding what happened this weekend with the other clubs, looking at the table and feeling everything. And the way we presented from the first minute is really frustrating.”

Now it is all about bouncing back when United head to Crystal Palace this weekend.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United betting tips

Will Crystal Palace or Manchester United collect all three points at Selhurst Park?

Honours even in London

Crystal Palace are a point and a place outside the top four. If Manchester United are considered Champions League candidates, perhaps Oliver Glasner’s side should be too.

A lack of strength in depth could cost them. Glasner likes to rely on a core group of 14 or 15 players. Palace are in Europe and through to the EFL Cup quarter-finals. Fatigue may eventually catch up with them.

Right now, though, the Eagles are one of the hardest teams to play against in the Premier League.

Only Arsenal have lost fewer matches than Palace, who rank fourth in the division for expected goals difference.

Glasner’s men can avoid defeat here, but they may have to settle for a point after their involvement in the Conference League on Thursday.

High-scoring match unlikely

Manchester United’s biggest weakness last season was a lack of bite in attack.

Notwithstanding the performance against Everton, they have been much better in that regard in 2025/26. But United have struggled at the other end; only five sides have given up more expected goals.

Even so, we anticipate a tight affair on Sunday. Seven of Palace’s 12 games have featured under 2.5 goals. Theirs have been the lowest-scoring matches in the top flight alongside Sunderland.

This will be a hard-fought encounter at Selhurst Park, but goals could be at a premium.

Munoz essential for Palace

Daniel Munoz crashed home Crystal Palace’s opening goal in their 2-0 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out.

The Eagles’s reigning Player of the Year, Munoz is indispensable. Without the buccaneering right wing-back, Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 system would not work.

Munoz’s boundless energy makes him a key attacking outlet for Palace. Only Jean-Philippe Mateta has more combined goals and assists in the league.

The Colombia international will have an influence on this match one way or another.
