Coventry boasted a 10 point lead at the top of the Championship table heading into December after a breathtaking start of the season, but just four wins in their 14 matches since has now seen them lose their place at the top of the league.

Frank Lampard’s side head into tonight’s crunch Championship clash two points behind their visitors, so will return to the summit with victory but will need to shake off a run of form which has seen them pick up just one point from their last three games.

Despite their recent struggles though, the Sky Blues still boast the best home record in the Championship, losing just one of their 15 matches and winning 11 of those, including two of their last three, and will be backed tonight by a vociferous home crowd.

Middlesbrough are the Championship’s form team and make the trip to the West Midlands having won each of their last six league matches, a run which has seen them climb to the top of the division’s summit.

No Championship team have picked up as many points away from home on the road as Boro, who have really kicked on since the appointment of Kim Hellberg as manager following Rob Edwards’ decision to leave the club to take over at Premier League strugglers Wolves.

The Yorkshire side will open up a five point lead at the top of the table with victory tonight, which would also leave with Sky Blues within striking distance of the automatic promotion’s chasing pack, with Millwall, Ipswich and Hull all in close proximity.

Middlesbrough have not won any of their last nine matches against Coventry though, with the latter winning each of their last five meetings with tonight’s opponents. Boro haven’t won at the CBS Arena in five years.
