Coventry make feelings clear about Frank Lampard’s future ahead of January transfer window
Coventry City plan to back Frank Lampard with funds during the January transfer window.
And owner Doug King doesn’t want the Chelsea legend going anywhere either as he plans on handing out a new contract.

This is according to reports in The Guardian, which state that the Coventry board want to do everything they can to secure a place in the Premier League and keep Lampard.
When the Sky Blues decided to part ways with Mark Robins and appoint the former Derby County boss, it looked to be a risk.
But after losing to Sunderland in the play-offs last season and not spending too much in the transfer market, it was unclear what to expect from Lampard in his first full season at the CBS Arena.
However, they are eight points clear of second-place Middlesbrough and ten above Ipswich Town in third with over half of the season played.
This could have been an even bigger gap had they not lost their first home league game since April on Monday to Ipswich.
And it seems King doesn’t want to take any risks and is looking to give Lampard what he needs to ensure the Sky Blues round off a memorable season.
The club only spent £8million in the summer, and there is plenty of money available for the Sky Blues to spend in January.
Lampard would like to add some depth in wide areas, while midfielder Jack Rudoni has been injured at points this season, so a potential back-up for him is an option as well.
Lampard’s current contract runs until June 2027, but with suggestions that some Premier League sides could be interested in giving the ex-England international another crack in the Premier League, Coventry are contemplating securing their boss’ future.
Equally, Lampard and the club won’t engage in contract negotiations if they believe it could disrupt the remainder of the campaign.

The 47-year-old is thought to be happy in the East Midlands and enjoys working at the club after 18 months out of management.
Lampard’s impact
There were many people who Lampard’s credentials when he took the Coventry job after what Robins had achieved, and having watched people like Wayne Rooney fail in the Championship.
Even the most optimistic of Coventry fans can’t have thought that they would be top of the Championship at this stage this season when he first took over, however.
Speaking to talkSPORT’s Anil Kandola earlier this year about Coventry’s form, Lampard said: “It’s going well. We are well into the season, and we are working hard.
“We worked hard last season and saw an improvement to nearly reach a play-off final.
“The resilience to come back this year has been stronger with a good pre-season but we need to do more because there are so many things that can happen between now and the end of the season.”
And Lampard was then blown away when Kandola indicated just how much he had done for Coventry as a city.
He said: “That is an absolutely wonderful thing to hear you say.
“I am not stupid. I realise we’ve got some results and fans are happy with that, but when you say that personally, and it feels as big as that – I really appreciate it.”
