Cheltenham Festival day 2 boosts
- Romeo Coolio (Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase) and Favori De Champdou (Glenfarcles Cross Country Chase) Both to win – was 11/1 now 14/1
- Majborough (Champion Chase) and Love Sign d’Aunou (Champion Bumper) both to win – was 19/2 now 12/1
Romeo Coolio is the frontrunner in the second race of the day, the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at 2PM.
The Gordon Elliott-trained seven year old, unbeaten in four starts over fences, will tackle a competitive three mile trip for the first time at the Festival.
He has a string of competitive rivals, notably Final Demand and Wendigo.
But having won most recently at Leopardstown, beating out 2026 Arkle champion Kargese.
He’s got a growing Grade 1 record which should stand him in good stead, including second and third places in his last two Cheltenham Festival appearances.
Favori De Champdou is challenging Stumptown for favouritism in the 15:20 Cross Country Chase for trainer Gordon Elliott.
A pair of wins in his last two outings, at Leopardstown in December and January at Cheltenham has catapulted the gelding into real contention for a first Festival victory.
He’s demonstrated great staying power, with Elliott eyeing up the Grand National in April as the next showpiece for this horse to excel in.
Majborough is the big favourite for the feature race of the day – the Queen Mother Champion Chase at 4PM.
The Willie Mullins-trained horse is just six-years-old but has burst into Grade 1s over fences, despite placing third in last year’s Arkle Novices’ Chase by just 3/4 of a length.
With reigning champion Marine Nationale withdrawing from the race through injury, it’s catapulted Majborough into hot favourite.
His form has improved with each run, culminating in the first placed finish at the Dublin Racing Festival in Leopardstown, beating out Marine Nationale and Champion Chase rival Found a Fifty.
Love Sign d’Aunou is Mullins’ best-placed runner in the day’s closing race, the Champion Bumper at 5:20PM.
Cut to the top of the betting markets in January after powering to a runaway victory in Naas, with Mullins going for a 15th Champion Bumper success at the Festival.
