Chelsea vs Burnley betting tips and predictions – No Burnley blues at the Bridge?

Chelsea host relegation-threatened Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon as they hope to consolidate a Champions League place.

This will be Chelsea’s fourth match in a row against teams in the bottom five of the Premier League. They dispatched both West Ham and Wolves in recent week, but let a 2-0 lead slip to Leeds in their last league outing.

Can Burnley disrupt Liam Rosenior’s great start to life in west London?

Chelsea vs Burnley predictions

Chelsea’s record against the promoted teams is sketchy this season. But they did beat their next opponents 2-0 away at Turf Moor earlier in the campaign.

Goals from Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto were enough for the three points that day.

Neto was called ‘world class’ by his manager after his two goal-salvo against Hull helped Chelsea advance to the FA Cup fifth round. And it might not be out of the question that the Portuguese forward does it again.

Burnley have conceded at least two goals in seven of their last eight Premier League matches, so a Neto brace and over 3.5 goals could be one to watch.

Aside from the two-legged Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal, Rosenior has aced his start to life in the Chelsea dugout.

Big victories against Napoli in the Champions League, and the last-gasp win over West Ham stand out.

With Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle to come in March, three points here could be massive to keep the Blues in top four contention.

Cole Palmer rejuvenated?

Any Chelsea late season surge could be riding on the fitness and form of talisman Cole Palmer.

The club have had to be patient with their star man, with injury issues ravaging his season so far.

With the World Cup on the horizon. The home stretch of the domestic season is where Palmer could come into his own.

A hattrick against Wolves was followed up by a goal in the draw against Leeds.

Another Palmer-inspired victory will set the team up nicely for the trip to the Emirates stadium on 1 March.

Burnley banana-skin

Burnley have been submerged in the relegation dog-fight for some time now. But they showed signs of life against Crystal Palace last midweek.

The Clarets scored three goals in a seven minute spell before half-time to reverse a 2-0 loss into a 3-2 victory.

Jaiden Anthony has been an influential figure in recent matches. It may be a tall order for a team who had only one away league victory this season, before the 3-2 reverse over Palace.

  • Chelsea to win, Palmer to score anytime and both teams to score in 1st half – 7/1 at Betfred
  • Pedro Neto to score two or more – 11/1 with Tote
