Caitlin Clark’s fourth-year option gets no-brainer decision from Fever

As Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is releasing a children’s book, per a recent announcement showing her endeavors off the court, the latest basketball news is an obvious one. After Clark made her 2026 preseason debut for the Fever last Saturday, the team officially announced an update on her contract.

The Indiana team took to social media to say that they have exercised the fourth-year option in Clark’s rookie contract, which is no doubt an obvious decision with her being the face of the franchise and a shining young player for the future of the WNBA.

“We have exercised Caitlin Clark’s fourth year option,” the official X, formerly Twitter, account wrote on Tuesday.

Fever’s Caitlin Clark looking to build off of preseason debut 

With Clark looking to get ready to excel in the 2026 season with the Fever, she is starting to get her feet under herself on the court in her preseason debut, which showed off a bit of the rust. In the 109-91 win over the New York Liberty, Clark scored seven points on two of 10 shooting from the field, one of five from beyond the arc, to go along with four assists and three rebounds.

Still, Clark said after the game that her “shot felt really good” and physically is in great shape heading into the season.

“Honestly, my shot felt really good, and I was missing long, which is what you want to see,” Clark said, via The Associated Press. “But it felt good. I felt fast, so that was definitely a positive. I think I struggled in that area last year, but my body felt great. I felt like I was moving well. So overall, really happy.”

“I think anytime you get to put on your uniform and lace up your shoes, you don’t take that for granted, especially after coming off last year when I didn’t get to do that very much,” Clark continued.

At any rate, Clark looks to improve ahead of Indiana’s regular-season opener on Saturday, May 9, against the Dallas Wings.
