Bournemouth vs Man City prediction
Manchester City face a huge test in the Premier League title race on Tuesday night as they travel to the south coast to take on an in form Bournemouth side dreaming of a first ever season in European football.
Celebrations will have been short but sweet for Pep Guardiola’s side over the weekend, who completed the domestic cup double with a 1-0 win over Chelsea in Saturday afternoon’s FA Cup final at Wembley, with attention quickly turning back to their Premier League title race.
The Cityzens head into the new week sat two points behind league leaders Arsenal in the race, each with just two matches to play, but at the time of writing the Gunners still have a match to play against an already relegated Burnley side 24 hours prior to City’s trip to Dorset.
A win for Arsenal on Monday would mean that if Man City were to drop points at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday, the north London side would be guaranteed their first league title since 2004 even before Sunday’s final games of the season take place.
As far as City are concerned though, it’s win or bust for them as they bid to become just the second team in English history (after themselves in 2019) to achieve the domestic treble of league, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
Following their FA Cup victory, Guardiola’s men have now won nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions, including each of their last three withouth conceding, so will be oozing confidence ahead of their trip to the south coast.
City were held to a 3-3 draw in their most recent away game though in a thrilling match against Everton which derailed their title aspirations, as the Premier League trophy was very much in their hands prior to their stalemate against Moyes’ men.
Bournemouth will be a very tough match for Guardiola’s men on Tuesday though, with the Cherries currently on the Premier League’s longest unbeaten run throughout the season having not lost in any of their last 16 league outings.
Tuesday’s match will also be Andoni Iraola’s side’s final home game in charge of the club with the Spaniard having announced his departure from the club following the expiration of his contract this summer after three largely successful seasons in the job.
The south coast side’s current run of four victories in their last five matches, including a win at the Emirates, which has put them firmly in the chase for the club’s first ever appearance in European competition next season.
The Cherries currently occupy sixth place in the table, which could yet be enough to qualify for the Champions League next season, due to a peculiar ruling that sixth place will qualify for the competition if Aston Villa win Wednesday’s Europa League final against Freiburg AND finish fifth in the table.
Villa currently sit fourth, three points ahead of Liverpool but with inferior goal difference. Villa travel to the Etihad on the final day of the season, four days after their European final in Istanbul, while the Reds host Brentford and could well overtake Villa into fourth spot, opening the door for Bournemouth to get into Europe’s elite club competition through the back door.
That being said, the Dorset club could yet qualify for European football by overtaking Liverpool – a win on Tuesday would leave the Cherries just a point behind the reigning Premier League champions heading into the final day of the season, where they head to the City Ground to face a Nottingham Forest side with nothing tangible to play for.
Bournemouth and Man City have played each other on 25 occasions in their history, with City winning 22 of those meetings, including 18 of the last 19, although the Cherries’ sole victory against the Cityzens did come in the two teams’ most recent league meeting at the Vitality Stadium last season.
Man City weren’t too convincing against a Chelsea side who have struggled hugely in recent months in Saturday’s FA Cup final, while Bournemouth, themselves with a hell of a lot to play for, carry a hugely impressive long unbeaten run into Tuesday’s clash, and will be eager to end Iraola’s spell at the Vitality with a positive result.
Bournemouth haven’t tasted defeat in the league since the opening days of 2026, and to see them adding their own final twist to the title race is very much a possibility – I can see a highly dramatic 2-2 draw from Tuesday’s bout.
Bournemouth vs Man City betting tips
Cherries stay unbeaten to end City title hopes
Bournemouth currently hold the current Premier League season’s longest unbeaten record, having not tasted defeat in the league since their opening game of 2026, 17 matches ago.
The Cherries, with four wins in their last five matches, are also very much in the hunt for Champions League football next season, currently occupying sixth place, which could yet be enough to qualify, but sit four points off fifth placed Liverpool with a game in hand and will have their sights set on that fifth placed finish.
Manchester City need a win to stay in the title race but stumbled to a draw in their last away game and didn’t impress hugely in Saturday’s FA Cup final against a Chelsea side who have had a terrible few months, despite securing a 1-0 win.
Tuesday’s game will also be Bournebouth boss Iraola’s final game at the Vitality Stadium before his departure at the end of the season, so will no doubt be desperate to leave the club he’s enjoyed working for so much on a high.
- Draw both teams to score at 4/1 with Midnite
Haaland on hand again
Erling Haaland has scored more goals in all competitions than any other Premier League player this season, having bagged his 37th of the campaign in his last league game against Brentford, which leaves him having scored in his last four league appearances ahead of Tuesday.
- Erling Haaland to score at 4/6 with Sky Bet
Silva to be sanctioned
No player on either team has been on the receiving end of more yellow cards than Bernardo Silva this season, having received his 14th of campaign in Man City’s recent win over Brentford, leaving him with at least four more bookings than any other player across either team this campaign.
Tuesday’s match will be the Portuguese midfielder’s penultimate game for Manchester City after 458 games for the club to date following nine years of service to the club, and particularly if the game isn’t going to plan for City in terms of the scoreline another card can no doubt be expected for the 31-year-old.
- Bernardo Silva to receive a card at 23/10 with Midnite
