Blue Jays’ Alejandro Kirk activated amid bevy of injured list moves

The Toronto Blue Jays made a series of moves recently, with one of them being activating Alejandro Kirk from the 6-day injured list, according to the team’s account.

“C Alejandro Kirk reinstated from the 60-day IL and will be active tonight,” the Blue Jays wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Kirk hasn’t played most of the season as he underwent surgery on a broken left thumb in April. Though he’s only played five games, the Blue Jays have stayed afloat with the strong play of Brandon Valenzuela. With Kirk back, the Blue Jays designated Tyler Heineman for assignment.

As far as the other moves that the Blue Jays made, they placed Daulton Varsho on the 10-day injured list because of left wrist inflammation and recalled Davis Schneider from Triple-A. Yariel Rodríguez also cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A.

The Blue Jays are currently 33-36 and are in third place in the AL East, but if you ask them, they’re playing better than the record suggests. Ernie Clement recently dropped a truth bomb about the team, and he thinks the best is yet to come for the group.

“Once we kind of figure out who we are as a team, firmly figure out our team identity, I think this team has a chance to be better than last year,” Clement said.

This is a team that is a year removed from making it to the World Series and going seven games with the Los Angeles Dodgers. They know that if they can catch a rhythm at this point in the season, they could be a scary team to face.
