Ben Shalom lashes back at Eddie Hearn and Frank Smith over claim he ‘failed’ Ben Whittaker
Ben Shalom has dismissed Frank Smith and Eddie Hearn’s ‘nonsense’ take that he didn’t deliver for Ben Whittaker.
Whittaker recently made his debut for the pair’s Matchroom Boxing stable, brutally stopping Benjamin Gavazi in one round in Birmingham.

It came just months after announcing he would not renew his deal with Shalom’s BOXXER having had his first 10 professional outings with the promotion.
The move has provided Hearn and Smith with a real superstar in the making, and they believe they can provide the best platform for him.
In recent weeks, there has been much back and forth between Hearn, Shalom and Smith who have argued over the departure of ‘The Surgeon’.
Hearn has questioned the quality of Shalom’s stable and his stint with Whittaker, while Smith recently told talkSPORT he believes they did not deliver the best fights for Whittaker.
He said: “What they did with Whittaker, spent a lot of money for him and didn’t have the money to get appropriate opponents.
“They didn’t get the right opponents to build him, that’s my take on the three years he had there.”
Shalom has now hit back, telling talkSPORT’s White & Jordan: “That guy talks absolute nonsense.
“Listening to that, wow, we built him and put in the work and done everything.
“We got him into a place after ten fights that not many other people could.”
Ultimately Whittaker decided to leave as he felt that Matchroom provided the best platform for the next stages of his career.

Shalom’s latest swipe at Eddie Hearn
Hearn and Shalom have been going back and forth in interviews as of recent with a new feud playing out to the boxing public.
For years, the Matchroom kingpin took shots with Frank Warren, but the pair are now amicable and have worked together on multiple shows.
The Brentwood native has suggested Shalom isn’t his league at the top table when promoting events both in the UK and globally.
But Shalom believes it is simply because he has reached some notable achievements at such a young age.
He continued: “There is an insecurity there between those guys.
“Eddie is in a position where he started working for Matchroom at 35, and he has seen me come along at 27 and do things off my own back.

“I had to go through struggles he didn’t have too, and it screams every insecurity ever. Both of them can’t put themselves in my shoes.
“Both of them don’t have my life experiences and haven’t achieved what I’ve had to do on my own. They don’t stand on their own two feet.
“I respect Barry Hearn and Matchroom but that’s it. Eddie likes being in front of camera and is a great talker.
“He tried his own thing and went back working for his dad. The journey is completely different, and that’s why he gets so touchy.”
