Barcelona star embarrassingly turned away from voting in presidential election
Marc-Andre ter Stegen was awkwardly turned away from voting during Barcelona’s presidential election.
The German goalkeeper was prevented from casting his vote on Sunday.

Ter Stegen had arrived at the Nou Camp to make his choice between candidates Joan Laporta and Victor Font.
However, the 33-year-old was not permitted to do so as he was not listed on the club’s electoral roll.
Footage of Ter Stegen arriving to cast his ballot showed him awkwardly standing at a desk as he spoke with club officials.
After 10 minutes, though, he left without voting as a solution could not be found.
Only registered club members are allowed to vote in Barcelona’s presidential elections.
They must be listed on the electoral roll prior to polling day.
Sunday’s vote will see either Laporta or Font chosen to serve as president for the next five years.
Laporta resigned from the role in February in order to stand for re-election in accordance with the club’s rules.
He had returned as president in 2021 after a previous spell between 2003 and 2010.
As for Ter Stegen, he has spent over 11 years at Barcelona since joining the club in the summer of 2014.

During that time, Ter Stegen has made 423 appearances and won 19 major trophies.
Those honours include six LaLiga titles as well as the treble in his first season at the club.
However, the Germany international is currently on loan at Girona, having joined the club in January until the end of the season.
His switch came after Ter Stegen rejected a move to West Ham United.
Despite currently being out on loan, his Barca contract still has two years remaining.
Ter Stegen’s time at the Spanish giants has not been without incident prior to his election day rejection.

Just last summer he was stripped of the captaincy before being reinstated days later.
Meanwhile, he made just one Copa del Rey appearance this season prior to joining Girona.
