The 49ers are adding a veteran wide receiver to their practice squad.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that they will sign Brandin Cooks. Cooks recently worked out for the Ravens, but he’ll join a 49ers receiving corps that’s been riddled with injuries.
Demarcus Robinson sprained his ankle in Week 2 and Mike Evans suffered a hip injury in the win over the Dolphins. The 49ers were already without Ricky Pearsall, who is out for the season, and De’Zhaun Stribling, who will miss a couple of months after having ankle surgery.
Cooks played for the Saints and Bills last season, and he was the intended target on the interception that helped the Broncos eliminate Buffalo in the playoffs. He’s also played for the Cowboys, Texans, Rams and Patriots since entering the league as a Saints first-rounder in 2014.
Cooks has 734 catches for 9,811 yards and 60 touchdowns over the course of his career.
