The past six World Series have included a player by the name of Will Smith. That streak will officially come to an end this year following the Los Angeles Dodgers' National League Championship Series loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. ESPN shared the report.
In 2020, 2024 and 2025, Dodgers catcher Will Smith played in the World Series with LA. In 2021, 2022 and 2023, left-handed relief pitcher Will Smith was on teams that reached the World Series (Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros and Texas Rangers).
There is no Will Smith on the Brewers. The teams battling in the American League Championship Series — the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays — also don't feature a Will Smith.
It was an incredible streak. For years, it seemed as if simply having a player by that name meant you were going to have a chance of reaching the Fall Classic. This year, Smith's Dodgers fell short of reaching the World Series.

Nevertheless, the Dodgers feature a roster full of competitors. They are hoping to begin a new Will Smith World Series streak sooner rather than later.
