The Baltimore Ravens have found a solution to their quarterback woes (sort of) as they are reportedly acquiring veteran Jacoby Brissett via a trade with the Arizona Cardinals.
With Brissett, the Ravens have someone seemingly capable of handling the starting quarterback duties instead of going with an unproven signal-caller to try and save their season.
Baltimore will still start third-stringer Joe Fagnano against the Jaguars after Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley both got hurt in the Ravens' Week 8 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but Brissett could be under center for the team as soon as Week 10.
While Brissett's addition adds a much-needed stability at quarterback for the Ravens, it doesn't mean their season is saved either, a notion shared by former NFL QB and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky.
“It makes sense to keep them competitive, right? Jacoby is one of the professional quarterbacks in the NFL. He gives them a chance,” Orlovsky said on NFL on ESPN.
Orlovsky said it would be a huge disappointment for the Ravens' rivals if Baltimore ends up winning the division given the team's QB situation, but he's also far from sold on the idea that Brissett will get the team back into a contender status.
“We can all be honest that if this division somehow got won by Baltimore, and not Cincinnati, or not Pittsburgh, or not Cleveland, given the fact that they don't have Lamar Jackson, all three other teams would be massive disappointments and incredibly underwhelming. ”
So there is a reality where this gives them just a settling of ‘We have a professional that will keep us competitive'. But I don't think this makes me believe that the Baltimore season is going to be saved by Jacoby or any other quarterback”
In eight starts with the Cardinals in 2026, Brissett has passed for 1,719 yards and 10 touchdowns against seven interceptions on a 63.3 percent completion rate.
