The San Diego Padres have already clinched a playoff spot. However, that isn't deterring them from wanting to finish the regular season on a good note.

In fact, manager Craig Stammen says that the team wants more, per MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM. He specifically cited a desire for home-field advantage.

“I think it's very important,” Stammen said. “I think our players know that too. We played so well at home this year. It's probably another big reason of our success is we just had a really good run at Petco Park. Our fans show up every night, 40,000 fans, it's pretty impressive.”

With that in mind, Stammen wants to do everything possible to ensure they play at home in October. In other words, just making the playoffs isn't enough.

“It'd be great for us to play at home,” Stammen said. “We got a one-game advantage right now with three to play. So we got to play these three games tough, even though we are in the postseason.”

The Padres will close out the regular season against the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, they are battling it out for a top seed in the NL Wild Card series. They currently hold a one-game lead over the Chicago Cubs, who also clinched a playoff spot and a two-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Moreover, the Padres' magic number is 3. They need to win as many of those three games against Arizona or the Cubs as the Cubs lose their remaining games to capture home-field advantage.
