The Boston Celtics have had quite the interesting offseason, first trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in a shocking move and then signing former New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson in free agency. Robinson figures to add a boost to what was already one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the league last year, in addition to giving Boston more rim protection and lob threat.

Also joining the Celtics this year were Paul George and Mike Conley Jr., who had their introductory press conference on Tuesday, although Robinson was not in attendance due to personal reasons, per Zack Cox of the Boston Herald on X, formerly Twitter.

Robinson played a key role in leading the Knicks to the championship last year, including securing a crucial offensive rebound in their decisive Game 5 win over the San Antonio Spurs. While his free-throw struggles and other shortcomings are well-documented, Robinson should still provide some elite frontcourt depth to a Celtics team that saw their trade for Nikola Vucevic crash and burn last year.

Meanwhile, the Celtics are hoping that George is able to shore up some of the weaknesses that the team experienced with Brown, including streaky outside shooting and the propensity to get lost on help defense, even though his scoring ability and overall availability are likely to be far less than what Brown provided to the team.

If Jayson Tatum is able to look like the healthy version of himself after a full offseason, there's no reason to think the Celtics can't bounce back and reassume their place among the Eastern Conference elites this season.

Boston's season will kick off on October 20 vs the Detroit Pistons.
