On Monday, the Philadelphia 76ers held media day for the upcoming 2026-27 season, with the team's new faces, including former Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown, in attendance. The 76ers fancy themselves title contenders heading into this season after adding both Brown and LeBron James over the summer.
At one point, Brown declined to answer a question from a media member regarding the 76ers' new hierarchy.
“Asked about who this team's ‘alpha' is and whether the team needs to work to figure that out, Jaylen Brown says ‘next question.' Brown says he learned how to lead more last season and is excited to bring that to this team,” reported Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice on X, formerly Twitter.
It's certainly not the first time the question has been asked, with James, Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey all accustomed to getting their fair share of touches over the years, and only one basketball to go around.

Meanwhile, other questions about the 76ers revolve around their seeming lack of elite three-point shooting and perimeter defense, as well as major concerns about the health and availability of their stars, although that has rarely been an issue for Brown over his career with the Boston Celtics.
While there may be some things to work out over the first few weeks of the season, the 76ers certainly have as much talent as any team in the NBA, and figure to be one of the most fascinating basketball experiments in recent memory.
Philadelphia will kick off its season on October 20 vs the New York Knicks.
