Josh Allen and the Bills lit up the Detroit Lions in a 41-31 Week 2 win that had fans talking about the star quarterback's stellar. His 300-plus yard, five-touchdown outing placed Allen in record-setting territory after two weeks.
Following the game, The Herd host Colin Cowherd shared a flattering NBA comparison between Allen and the NBA's all-time leading scorer, LeBron James, while also comparing Patrick Mahomes to an NBA legend.
âÂÂThe Buffalo Bills have some nice pieces. But I have never seen a team defined more by one player,â Cowherd said. âÂÂJosh Allen, size, athleticism, arm, all best-in-class. Since he entered the league, he has 308 touchdowns, easily the most. He has already got nine through two weeks.
âÂÂHe is LeBron (James). Mahomes is MJ (Michael Jordan),â Cowherd continued, saying that Allen doesn't have the same caliber supporting cast as the Chiefs' superstar.
âÂÂJosh Allen in Buffalo is the QB, Plan B, and the RV. I would not be surprised if the entire organization uses Josh Allen as the emergency contact,â he joked about Allen's do-everything role in Buffalo.
The Bills are now 2-0 on the season, tops in the AFC East, with time to rest before Sept. 27's home game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The wait could give receiver DJ Moore a chance to return after he suffered a shoulder injury against the Lions.
Allen plays his best with a full supporting cast, but as Cowherd mentioned, there are times when he is forced to shoulder a bigger load, a recurring challenge that has helped make him into the LeBron James caliber NFL player he is today.
