When your dad is one of the best players in NBA history, and when your namesake is also your dad, and when your dad is your day one teammate on the Los Angeles Lakers, it is going to be hard to escape the shadow of your dad. Of course, this has been reality for Bronny James, the son of LeBron James.

The younger James has teamed up with his father since he was a second-round pick in 2024, and together, the two created some iconic father-son moments. LeBron left the Lakers for the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason, though, and with his departure came more freedom for Bronny, who now gets to live a somewhat more normal NBA life. Bronny spoke during NBA Media Day about how life will change without his father in town.

“It's something different for sure,” James said. “I'm excited for the experience, to experience something different with him not being here and to see how the staff treats me without him being here.”

The USC product has always had to live with rumors that he was only in the NBA because of his dad. Now, he will have the chance to prove just the player that he is.
