Many expected Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love to turn in a big performance in Week 1. Instead, it was Minnesota Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz, who was not even supposed to play, who stole the show with a valiant outing.

Wentz was thrust into the spotlight after Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray suffered a concussion in the first quarter. The 11-year veteran came in and outplayed Love, steering Minnesota to a convincing victory, 39-22.

The Vikings made life difficult for Love. He went 21-of-42 for 387 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He was sacked four times.

On Tuesday, Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich pinpointed the major issue in their lack of protection for the 27-year-old Love.

“Miscommunication upfront. The backs and linemen were not on the same page,” said Stenavich, as quoted by ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores looked like a genius with his game plan, blitzing Love throughout the contest. The 27-year-old signal-caller lost a fumble, had two turnovers in the fourth quarter, and was 3-of-12 on third downs.

The Packers lost their sixth straight game dating back to last season.

Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur admitted that they were totally outclassed by the Vikings.

“We had some good answers early, but ultimately, coaching, playing—it's all of us. We have to do a better job of putting plays in position, and when we are in position, we have to execute. We have to play cleaner football. Far too many penalties tonight,” said LaFleur, as quoted by Packers Roundtable's Jordan Sigler.

The Packers will face the New York Jets in Week 2.
