Georgia football entered Saturday as the new heavy favorite to run through the SEC. Auburn, however, placed the Bulldogs on upset alert. Especially after head coach Kirby Smart confronted quarterback Gunner Stockton about his second interception.
Smart, however, didn't resort to screaming or throwing down his play sheet. He instead placed his hand on the QB's left shoulder. Showing more encouragement than tearing down his veteran passer.
Auburn led 24-17 in Athens during the fourth quarter. And the Tigers found ways to frustrate the past College Football Playoff QB. Including picking off this floating lob while down 24-14.

Stockton then went deep with under 11 minutes to go while facing third down with a manageable field to work with. But his pass sailed toward the sidelines.
The Tigers pass rush also frustrated Stockton and Georgia, including through this blitz up the gut.

Auburn hanging on certainly rises as the biggest win of the Alex Golesh era. The former USF head coach took down Florida and a nationally-ranked Boise State last season. Georgia, meanwhile, is getting reminded of one brutal CFB reality: No. 1 ranked teams simply aren't safe each week.
Already, college football has seen previous number ones Ohio State and Texas go down. Now the Bulldogs are on the brink. Stockton sat at 198 passing yards before the 8:15 mark of the fourth quarter. He struggled to get the Bulldogs out of their own 6-yard line too, going 0-for-2 during a crucial drive. Stockton, however hit a 19-yard completion to hand Georgia some breathing room while down by seven.
