The Buffalo Bills suffered their first loss of this season after the New England Patriots handed them a 29-26 loss in Week 4. Josh Allen had helped Buffalo regain the lead late in the game, but his costly fourth-quarter interception ultimately ended the Bills’ hopes of preserving their perfect start, and the star quarterback was candid when discussing the mistake after the game.

Allen took accountability for the late turnover and admitted that he should have made a more conservative decision instead of trying to force the football downfield while the Patriots had coverage on the play.

“I mean, just a flood concept. They went, man. Made a guy miss. Threw one up. Should throw that out of bounds and live another day,” Allen said.

With Buffalo trailing by three points and slightly more than a minute left on the clock, Allen still had an opportunity to put the Bills in position for a potential game-tying field goal. However, after extending the play, the quarterback attempted a deep throw toward the left sideline, only for Patriots safety Craig Woodson to come down with the interception.

Despite the costly interception at the end, Allen delivered a solid performance for much of the game. The Bills quarterback completed 23 of his 33 pass attempts for 253 yards and one touchdown, while reaching a new milestone.

Buffalo did not exactly look like a Super Bowl contender throughout Sunday's matchup. Though Allen’s interception became the final major mistake and the play that sealed the defeat, the Bills had several other chances to take control of the game and ultimately failed to capitalize on them.

Allen was therefore blunt when assessing the team’s overall performance.

“We all feel like we could all play better. These ones sting. The division ones sting. I mean, it feels like a two-game swing, and we've got to find a way to learn from this and move it in the back of our brain, and learn from it and move on,” Allen said.

The Bills now drop to 3-1 on the season, while the Patriots improve to 2-2.
