The New England Patriots overcame a costly Romeo Doubs’ interception against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 and ultimately secured a 29-26 win. The interception immediately put Doubs under the spotlight, but Patriots quarterback Drake Maye made it clear that he was not interested in blaming the wide receiver for the turnover.
Doubs’ costly interception came when Maye’s low pass slipped through his hands and was picked off by Bills defensive back Dee Alford. Following the game, Maye revealed what he told Doubs and stated that he was willing to take responsibility for the play instead of placing the blame on his receiver.
“I told him that one's on me and forget about it,” Maye said via Doug Kyed of Boston Herald.

Instead of allowing the early mistakes to derail them, the quarterback and receiver continued working together and helped New England stay competitive throughout the game.
Maye delivered one of his best performances of the season when the Patriots needed him most. He completed 22 of 37 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Doubs bounced back from the interception and caught six of his nine targets for 58 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 4 victory.
The Patriots’ defense then completed the job when Craig Woodson intercepted Bills quarterback Josh Allen on Buffalo’s final possession. The turnover allowed New England to protect its late lead and secure a road victory, moving the Patriots to 2-2 while handing the Bills their first loss of the season.
