LSU now has a second loss of the season in their first year under Lane Kiffin. LSU went to overtime aganst Kentucky, and the Wildcats went for two after scoring in the extra period. Kenny Minchey ran in a two-point conversion for Kentucky to win the game 35-34.
As the game ended, Kentucky fans stormed the field and made sure that Kiffin knew he lost, per Jomboy Media.
Fans displayed the middle finger to the LSU coach as he went to shake hands with the Kentucky coach. Kiffin has become a villain in college football not only for leaving Ole Miss during their playoff run, but also for trying to bring in former NFL players to the roster at LSU.
It was a back-and-forth game between Kentucky and LSU. The Wildcats tied the game with a field goal with just 12 seconds left in regulation, leading to overtime. In overtime, Sam Leavitt ran in a 15-yard touchdown to take the 34-27 lead for LSU. Kentucky answered with a one-yard run from CJ Baxter. As they did the week before, Kentucky went for two and the win. Quarterback Kenny Minchey ran in the two-point conversion, giving Kentucky a second straight 35-34 win.
Meanwhile, LSU could be in trouble. Not only do they now have two losses, but they are in a stacked SEC. Currently, just one team, Georgia, is undefeated in conference play. Still, eight teams have just one loss. Further, LSU has a difficult schedule ahead. They face multiple Top 25 teams in the second half of the season. LSU will visit Mississippi State next week and has dates with Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee before the season ends.
