The Golden State Warriors are currently making the final preparations for their upcoming regular season. It's already been a tumoltuous preseason for the Warriors, with Draymond Green showing up to training camp out of shape and Kristaps Porzingis out indefinitely once again after yet another mysterious ailment.
At the center of the organization remains Stephen Curry, who has long been renowned for his elite leadership qualities around the team.
Recently, John Dickinson of KNBR reported that “Steve Kerr used to tell team during film sessions that Steph/Draymond were allowed turnovers but others weren’t. Kerr is changing that up this season,” per his account on X, formerly Twitter.
Now, Curry has weighed in on that development.
“It used to be really awkward. We'd be in film and it'd be one of those wild turnovers, and they'd skip it real fast… when the numbers stop adding up in terms of three, four turnovers each, points per possession and all of the things that you talk about as a coach, of course reimagine what that looks like and be honest,” said Curry.
Curry pointed out that Kerr was willing to live with some turnovers in previous years due to the Warriors' frenetic pace of play naturally creating some miscues but still paying off in the long run, but now that Golden State's on-court success has diminished significantly, it doesn't appear that anyone will be getting any special treatment.
Article Continues BelowCurry will be tasked with carrying a heavy burden once again for a Warriors team that isn't exactly flush with offensive options around him this year, and he'll try to take care of the ball while doing so.
The Warriors will kick off their new season on October 21 vs the Los Angeles Lakers on the road.
