Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are on opposite sides once again, but the former Golden State Warriors teammates still made time for each other before Thursday night’s showdown between the Warriors and the Miami Heat at Chase Center.
KNBR captured the moment during pregame warmups, as Curry and Thompson met at midcourt for a quick chat. With fans already filing into the stands, the two shared a few words before going back to their respective sides of the floor.

It was a familiar sight for Warriors fans, who watched the Splash Brothers win four NBA championships together. The duo spent 13 seasons as teammates in Golden State before Thompson left for the Dallas Mavericks in 2024. After two seasons in Dallas, Thompson reached a buyout agreement with the Mavericks in August and signed a two-year deal with the Heat.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admitted it still feels odd to see Thompson, along with Andrew Wiggins, in another uniform.
“Those first couple times are really bizarre, and then you get used to it. And it’s a reminder that most of us in the NBA end up with multiple teams. It’s so rare to play with one team,” Kerr said. “You end up competing against friends and sometimes even family.”
“But it’ll be great to see both guys, two just incredible contributors to the Warriors’ championships,” Kerr added. “Both Klay and Wiggins are wonderful human beings and great teammates, and it’ll be great.”
Article Continues BelowBoth Curry and Thompson enter the matchup in good form. Thompson is coming off a 30-point night in Miami’s 117-116 overtime win over the LA Clippers on Wednesday, knocking down eight 3-pointers and hitting the go-ahead triple with one second left in the extra period. It was his first 30-point game since April 2024, when he was still with the Warriors.
Curry, meanwhile, dropped 34 points in Golden State’s 116-113 win over the Phoenix Suns on Monday. The Warriors have won five straight games and sit at 5-3 on the season, while the Heat are 3-5 and playing on the second night of a back-to-back.
Thursday will mark Thompson’s first game at Chase Center as a member of the Heat, and the pregame moment showed that the bond between the Splash Brothers remains as strong as ever.
