Kristaps Porzingis has been the main talking point for the Golden State Warriors entering the 2026-27 NBA season. Not only has Porzingis been away from the team for weeks due to an ongoing health issue, but recent reports suggest that the Warriors are already exploring trade avenues to potentially move the 31-year-old due to all the uncertainty surrounding him.

On Wednesday, ESPN reported that Golden State has started to formulate different trade routes involving Porzingis, who is “seriously contemplating” his future in the NBA due to his medical concerns.

Not long after this report began to make its rounds, the Warriors as an organization released the following statement on what exactly is happening with Porzingis at the start of the new season:

“In response to today's media report regarding Kristaps Porzingis, we are not going to comment on trade speculation or reports regarding his health-related matter or future,” the team said. “As noted last week, conversations between the Warriors, Kristaps, and his representatives will remain private. We are not anticipating Kristaps being around the team in the immediate future.

“We'll provide additional updates when available and appropriate.”

While the Warriors kept the details of this conversations private, as relayed in Wednesday's comments, the team said then that Porzingis would remain out indefinitely due to his health-related matter. However, the Dubs stated that he would be around the team.

Since this statement was made in the week leading up to the start of the 2026-27 season, Porzingis has not been around the Warriors whatsoever. His only contact has been with Celebrini and Dunleavy Jr., according to ESPN's report. Should Porzingis be unable to solve his health concerns and rejoin the team, there is a very real possibility he will step away from basketball.

This is a developing story that will be updated shortly.
