Golden State Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green revealed that his viral conversation with Sacramento Kings rookie Darius Acuff Jr. during Saturday's preseason matchup included a warning about teammates potentially “plotting against you” if the young guard dominates the ball too frequently.

During Golden State's 111-106 victory over Sacramento, Green was spotted offering advice to Acuff along the sideline. The interaction quickly gained attention, prompting Green to explain what he told the 19-year-old on the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show.

According to Green, he noticed a possession in which Acuff controlled the ball without involving any of his teammates, leading him to share advice about navigating the NBA as a rookie.

“I saw something in that game that he had the ball the entire possession… my advice to him was just, ‘Hey man, you remember that possession? … who else touched the ball that possession?', he's like ‘nobody' and I was like ‘don't have many of those' because you can end up having a bunch of those with the Sacramento Kings this year and a few things can happen, you can get guys start plotting against you, guys that don't really wanna see you do well, guys that start bickering on the side to other guys…”

Green continued by explaining how teammates could become frustrated if they believe a rookie is receiving too much offensive responsibility.

“…you can get guys that get upset like ‘aahh man they wanna give this rookie this, they wanna do that, f*ck that!'… and so for me when I saw that, I just wanted to give him a little game about that.”

His performance offered an encouraging glimpse of his offensive potential as Sacramento prepares for the upcoming 2026-27 regular season.

However, Green's advice emphasized the importance of balancing individual production with keeping teammates involved, particularly for a young player entering his first NBA season.

The four-time NBA champion has spent his career alongside Stephen Curry and other established stars, giving him firsthand experience with the challenges of managing personalities and offensive responsibilities on a competitive roster.

For Acuff, the exchange provided an opportunity to receive guidance from one of the league's most experienced veterans as he prepares for his rookie campaign.
