Brandin Podziemski made a strong impression during the Golden State Warriors’ third day of training camp. The star shooting guard earned praise from head coach Steve Kerr ahead of Sunday’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Podziemski was the standout offensive player during Thursday’s scrimmage as the Warriors continued installing their new offensive system. Kerr confirmed afterward that Podziemski will start alongside Stephen Curry in Sunday’s game.
“Three days in, he’s had a great camp,” Kerr said.

Podziemski was active on both ends of the floor throughout the scrimmage. He directed traffic with the ball, attacked the rim and drew four fouls, including two three-point plays. He also missed only one free throw.

Kerr also noted Podziemski’s versatility and decision-making when discussing his performance during the training camp.
“That’s what we like about Brandin: His ability to see the game, attack angles, and he understands the officiating,” Kerr said. “He can dribble, pass, shoot. You can put him at any spot out of a timeout. Really versatile and obviously crucial to make the whole thing go.”
Podziemski’s performance comes as the Warriors face a decision on his rookie extension. The deadline is October 19, and Golden State has reportedly been reluctant to go significantly above his $17.5 million cap hold on an annual basis.
His training camp form could play a factor in that decision, particularly if he continues the level of play he showed late last season.
