With the Toronto Blue Jays in the chase for the playoffs, the team has been gaining positive momentum lately, especially coming from their star Vladimir Guerrero Jr., which is coming at the most crucial time of the season. As Guerrero ended his home run drought for the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in the 8-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, the team is in a good position to make a push for the postseason.

As pointed out by MLB insider Jon Morosi, Guerrero's slugging numbers are the best they've been all year, and with 12 games left in the season, Toronto is one game out of a playoff spot in the wild card. The Blue Jays even have the tiebreaker over the Texas Rangers, who are behind them in the standings, as Morosi says it “feels like a new start” for the team.

“Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has a .521 SLG in September, his highest in a full month this year,” Morosi wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Feels like a new start to the Blue Jays season: They have 12 games to play, are 1 out of a playoff spot, and own the tiebreaker against the team immediately above them.”

There's no denying how special the win over the Orioles was, as Guerrero's home run in the bottom of the fifth inning was his first at home all season.

“I knew it was going to happen,” Guerrero said through an interpreter, via CBC. “Today, tomorrow, I never felt the pressure. I never came to the ballpark thinking I had to hit one.”

Anyone can tell you that it has been a frustrating season for Guerrero, who, in 135 games this season before Sunday's game, had recorded a .265 batting average with nine home runs and 56 RBIs.

When he hit the home run, the fans knew how important it was, with manager John Schneider saying that it felt like a “walk-off homer,” via MLB.com.

The Blue Jays are now 75-75, and with every game crucial for their postseason push, the next series starts on Monday against the Detroit Pistons.
