As Virat Kohli turns 38, we look back at the three innings where he produced his biggest scores in one-day international cricket.
November 5 marks Virat Kohli's 38th birthday, and it is a fitting occasion to revisit the innings that define his standing in one-day international cricket. Kohli holds the record for the most centuries by any batter in ODI history, with 55 hundreds to his name, the latest of which came against West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, 2026.
While Sachin Tendulkar remains the all-time leading run-scorer in ODI cricket, Kohli has carved out a legacy of his own through consistency and match-winning knocks across the globe. Here are the three highest scores he has posted in the format.
3. 160* vs South Africa, Newlands, Cape Town (February 7, 2018)
At Newlands, Cape Town, on February 7, 2018, Kohli produced one of the most technically complete ODI innings seen in South Africa. Facing 159 balls, he remained unbeaten on 160 against the hosts in the third ODI of the series. A remarkable feature of the knock was that 100 of his runs came through running between the wickets, comprising 75 singles, 11 twos and one three. This was a testament to Kohli's magnificent fitness, something that he has taken very seriously for the major part of his career. He also struck 12 fours and 2 sixes. The Men in Blue won that match by 124 runs.
