Kyler Murray had a forgettable debut for the Minnesota Vikings as he was forced to exit in the first quarter due to a concussion.
Murray scrambled and tried to slide near the sideline against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. He, however, absorbed a late hit from Javon Bullard, knocking his helmet off. The 29-year-old quarterback stayed on the turf before walking off on his own. He was ruled out for the rest of the game.
The Vikings beat the Packers, 39-22. Murray went 3-of-5 for 18 yards and one interception.
According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the former No. 1 pick is trending in the right direction ahead of their game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
âÂÂPer sources: Kyler Murray continues to progress through concussion protocol. Did more in practice on Thursday than on Wednesday. Once he is cleared, the Vikings will decide whether to start him on Sunday or play it safe by holding him out for a week. Carson Wentz would start if Murray doesn't,â wrote Graziano on X.
Wentz delivered an impressive performance after taking over for Murray against Green Bay. He went 12-of-19 for 133 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
Murray signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Vikings in March.
More details to come.
